We liked this video, an animated version of the Bayeux Tapestry, at Watchknow, now in beta, another non-profit wiki-type site for educational videos. There are many more videos available at the website.

My kids and I read a book about the Bayeux Tapestry: this link describes the narrative of the tapestry and it helps to know a bit of the story when you watch. The tapestry has been called the first comic strip.
