not better, different

"We have to stop thinking about better, and start thinking about different."  Will Richardson's video is astute in showing that in the current debate "better schools=good test scores" and how that is a fundamentally flawed approach.

The opening example of his daughter teaching herself a piano piece from uTube and the piano teacher who  says "she's not ready for that" is a classic example of the control mentality we use, derived I am guessing from our lengthy curricular schemes, and our view of human learning in factory metaphors.
